Last year’s Oscar-winning biopic La Vie En Rose, which starred Marion Cotillard, renewed interest in Edith Piaf, affectionately known as The Little Sparrow.
Now is the chance to see a first-rate homage to France’s most beloved entertainer and national icon in the appropriately intimate setting of the Miners’ Theatre. A gifted lyricist, consummate vocalist and sparkling entertainer in her own right, Tina May’s astonishing vocal ability and hypnotic stage presence has won her worldwide acclaim.
Whilst not trying to imitate the appearance of Piaf, her masterful grasp of the timeless, spine-chilling ballads, including ‘La Vie En Rose’, ‘Hymne à l’Amour’, ‘Milord’ and perhaps the most famous, ‘Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien’, will certainly invoke Piaf’s spirit and soul.
