The Poet, Hoffmann, is torn between his love for Stella and his Muse. As the evil Lindorf plots to steal the object of his affections, Hoffmann is persuaded to recount the sad story of his three love affairs – with an automaton, a treacherous courtesan and the innocent girl who lives to sing but whose art leads her to death. Hoffmann has experienced these different loves with tragic results – he can love no more, and the Muse of Poetry must claim him for ever!

With fabulous melodies including the celebrated Barcarolle, the Doll’s Song and the Jewel Aria, this is a fascinating story of passion, comedy and tragedy set in a supernatural framework. An exhilarating evening of theatre, tailor-made for Mid Wales Opera’s uniquely entertaining style.
