Few Welsh names can boast a career as lengthy and full of well-received recordings as Martyn Joseph. From Penarth, South Wales, this singer-songwriter has been recording and touring since 1983 with his shows still absolutely vital on the acoustic roots scene.
His discography reveals a prolific talent who is just about to release his 30th album. He’s toured with Art Garfunkel, Ani DiFranco and Jools Holland, has played the Royal Albert Hall and has won the praise of everyone from BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris (“outstanding lyrical intelligence”) to Mojo magazine (“an artist of enduring worth”).
His new album sees Joseph re-interpreting some of his best known songs, delivered with the typical passion and invention that sees many songs barely recognisable from the originals. With shades of Springsteen, Knopfler and Dave Matthews, Joseph is one of Wales most inventive musicians.
