The Alarm were formed in 1981 by Mike Peters from Prestatyn, North Wales. The band’s so-called “Bob Dylan meets The Clash” sound earned them 17 UK top 50 singles, a host of successful albums and over five million sales worldwide. Their biggest hit was 1983’s 68 Guns but, to much amazement, they scored a top 30 hit in 2004 when they surreptitiously released 45RPM, credited to The Poppyfields.

Their new tour comes on the back of a new album, which has a truly incredible and inspiring back-story. In 2006, Peters was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. The path of the new album began the moment that Peters regained consciousness and began the long road to recovery.

He began listening to a lot of New Wave records and became influenced by the same reggae and dub sounds that had inspired those late 70s and early 80s bands. Consequently, Guerilla Tactics features similar rhythm elements in tracks like Rat Trap and War Cry and contains space echo, dub sounds and cross rhythm combinations that make this album an entirely unique Alarm experience.
