Glenn Tilbrook will be known to most as the lead singer, guitarist and chief songwriter of the band Squeeze. Yes, that’s the Squeeze that featured Jools Holland on keys and had the uber-hits Cool For Cats and Up The Junction. Look at that band’s career though and you’ll see a band who’ve split and reformed more often than most, which is why Tilbrook has been able to forge such a sustained and successful solo career.

When the band split seemingly for good in 1999 (actually they reconvened briefly last year), Tilbrook pursued a solo career, touring the US and the UK to small venues of faithful fans. Playing solo acoustic shows, the idea of being on the road alone appealed to Tilbrook and he set out to become the hardest working man in show business.

Over the course of his solo years, he’s released two albums (The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook and Transatlantic Ping Pong) to great critical acclaim. His live shows are known for being a whole heap of fun, with Tilbrook doing his damnedest to get every single member of the audience rockin’ out and having a great time. Of past live shows, The Sunday Mail said “excellent…fantastic,” and The Washington Post said “an all-time high.”
