The British have for the last 250 years excelled at the art of watercolour painting. From its topographical beginnings in the eighteenth century, when lightly tinted drawings provided records for antiquarians and country estates, a more romantic approach developed; the period 1800 to 1850 has been called the golden age of British watercolour.

In this lavish exhibition, there will be a selection of unframed watercolours and drawings, including some from the latter half of the twentieth century.
