The Swansea Open is an annual art competition open to anyone who lives and works in the City & County of Swansea. Works selected from the submissions received will be exhibited in Room 1. The selection is made by a different invited selector each year, thus encouraging diverse viewpoints annually. The exhibition seeks to reflect critical and cultural awareness, with a broad range of work by professional and non-professional artists. Artwork may be submitted by anyone who lives or works in the City & County of Swansea, within the postcodes SA1 to SA9.
The invited selector this year is artist, Laura Ford, who was born in Cardiff and has exhibited widely in Wales and internationally. Laura Ford was included in the British Art Show 5, 2000, and represented Wales in the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005.
Three prize-winners will be chosen from the selected entries, with a first prize of £250, second prize of £150 and a third prize of £100. The prize-winners will be announced at the beginning of the exhibition.
