A new playwriting competition was launched a few months ago to find 5-10 minute plays that could be performed in pubs. And the winners’ efforts are rewarded with performances in six pubs during Tenby Festival week and later in Fishguard. On September 22nd, three of the plays are performed in The Lifeboat, The 5 Arches? and The Crown. And the other three on the following night in the Stage Door Bar?, Tenby Rugby Club? and The Buccaneer. Then in Fishguard on the 29th September with a performance in the Ship and Anchor at 8pm and the Rose and Crown in Goodwick an hour later. The six winning plays and four runners up were selected by Phil Clark, who was the Artistic Director of Cardiff’s Sherman Theatre. On October 11th, there will be a Script Slam at Theatr Gwaun where all six winning plays – plus the four runners up – will be performed and the audience get to vote for their favourite script! The coveted ’Pint-pot’ gets awarded to the Best Script (as voted for by the audience) and there’s a ’Half-pint’ for the runner up). Plus Trophies for the Best Performance will also awarded on the night.
