A group of actors meet in a rehearsal room to explore events in Berlin during the rise of Hitler and later, following the fall of the Berlin Wall. Meanwhile, we witness scenes in Bethlehem as the Israeli security barrier is going up. Memory reveals the past and the present in search of the truth.

A new play by Welsh dramatist Jonathan Lichtenstein, Memory created an immediate impact with New York audiences and critics when it toured to the USA last year. During his 25 years with the Royal Shakespeare Company Terry Hands directed more productions there than any other in the company’s history. He is now one of Europe’s leading directors, with an international reputation.

… compelling… engrossing throughout New York Times

Wit, humour and resilience surface in these memories, sensitively handled in Terry Hands’ beautiful production The Independent
