One of the founding members of Mission Gallery, Glenys Cour has been painting for over sixty years; her teacher was the great modernist artist Ceri Richards.
She has always reinvented herself with each body of new work; never giving in to staleness or repetition, always seeking to experiment, reinvigorate and refresh her vision.
These large canvases, saturated with colour, are a departure from the collages that preoccupied her during the last decade but her image-making continues to be concerned with metaphor: using subjects to explore ideas, sensations and emotions. Glenys Cour has once again created a stunning body of new work, energised and full of great poetic power.
