Stephen Petronio Company (20 minutes)
Master choreographer Stephen Petronio is as famed for his collaborations as for the quality of his dance, and in the pieces to be performed at Wales Millennium Centre (Bud Suite and Bloom) his partnership with musician Rufus Wainwright takes his work onto a new level. Petronio doesn’t tell stories, he makes his dancers perform some of the most demanding twists and turns you’ll see on a stage today to reflect how ordinary people feel and think, drawing on the highs and lows of our lives. It’s this ability which has given him a reputation as one of the great choreographers of the moment.
Rufus Wainwright, described by the The Independent as having “the voice of a fallen angel” has written the music for both pieces and uses a choir of local young people, performing live, in Bloom.
